Fótbolti - Andrew í æfingabúðum með landsliði Úganda

16.mar.2007  16:11

Landslið Úganda kom saman til æfinga á mánudagsmorgun, þ.e.a.s.

FUFA chief executive officer Charles Masembe yesterday grumbled about government’s failure to release funds on time.

Sports state minister Charles Bakkabulindi, however blasted Masembe for ‘idle talk.’

"We presented our sh150 budget way back and nothing has come up. We are worried that the team might suffer the same scenario we had against Niger," Masembe said.

Bakkabulindi dismissed Masembe’s fears.
"He (Masembe) should first go and learn how management is done. Then, he will know where to go and start complaining," is all Bakkabulindi said when asked if the Cranes have money to travel to Lagos.

Cranes were rescued last year by Michael Ezra, who paid for the air-tickets to Niamey.

Cranes to carry food to Nigeria

FEDERATION of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) President Lawrence Mulindwa has said Cranes will pack their own food to avert any mistreatment in Nigeria.
The Cranes depart next Wednesday for Abeokuta, Nigeria where the 2008 Nations Cup qualifier against Super Eagles of Nigeria will be held.

"We can't risk anything at this crucial stage. We learnt much from Niger and they (Nigeria) being West Africans , who knows they may behave the same way," said Mulindwa.

Cranes are reported to have been treated to a poor reception in Niger where they were denied access to the national stadium for training, good quality of food, water and resided in a low standard hotel where players had to share beds.
The same hostile treatment is said to have extended even on the pitch.

Three types of food including matooke, rice and posh will be packed. "These are the types of foods our players need and in case any other type is needed, we shall also pack it," said Mulindwa.
